Bridging or re-entry programs are programs of study approved by the Nurses and Midwives Board of Australia (NMBA) that enables internationally qualified nurses and midwives who do not qualify for AHPRA registration to meet the requirements by completing further study and assessment against the NMBA’s standards for practice and section 53(b) of the Health Practitioner Regulation National Law.

That's straight from AHPRA's fact sheet on bridging programs, so make sure to check it out, as well as the NMBA's standards for practice,  and section 53(b) of the Health Practitioner Regulation National Law.
