References are an important part of your application. You should always ask permission from your referee before adding them. If you are an Experienced Nurse, referees should be of manager/educator level and they should have worked with you in the past 18 months. You referee will need to provide their AHPRA-number.
IMPORTANT: Please advise your referee to look out for our reference request via email, and ask them to respond ASAP. The sooner they respond, the sooner you can obtain work.
How to approach a referee? You may wish to use this template:
Hi [Insert referee name]
In order to obtain casual nursing shifts with uPaged, I need to obtain 2 references. Would you please act as one of my referees, for the period [month, year] to [month, year] that I [worked/volunteered/interned] at [insert organisation name].
If so, the form will take less than 2 minutes to complete. There are 4 required sections, completed by selecting a checkbox, confirming my Clinical Ability and Knowledge; General Attitude and Teamwork, Communication Skills, and if you would re-employ me. If you are happy to act as referee, I would be grateful if you could complete the form ASAP because I cannot start work without completed references. The reference form will come from uPaged.
Thank you in advance [Insert your name]
