References are an important part of your application. You should always ask permission from your referee before adding them. Referees should:
- be manager/educator level;
- have worked with you in the past 18 months; and
- have worked with you in a clinical setting.
Once you add your referee's name, email address and mobile phone number (if you have it), they will receive an email (and text message if you have entered their mobile phone number) with the link to complete our referee form. It should only take them 2-5 minutes to complete. Once complete, their completed form will be uploaded to your profile.
IMPORTANT: Please advise your referee to look out for our reference request via email or SMS, and ask them to respond ASAP. The sooner they respond, the sooner you can obtain work.
How to approach a referee You may wish to use this template for an email or phone call:
Hi [Insert referee name]
In order to obtain casual nursing shifts with uPaged, I need to obtain 2 references. Would you please act as one of my referees, for the period [month, year] to [month, year] that I [worked/volunteered/interned] at [insert organisation name].
If so, the form will take less than 2 minutes to complete. There are 4 required sections, completed by selecting a checkbox, confirming my Clinical Ability and Knowledge; General Attitude and Teamwork, Communication Skills, and if you would re-employ me. If you are happy to act as referee, I would be grateful if you could complete the form ASAP because I cannot start work without completed references. The reference form will come from uPaged.
Thank you in advance
